Admission Requirements: The Social Work (Three-Year Program) page sets no numeric admission criteria itself, describing only the 63 required credits and the second- and third-year field placements. The School of Social Work's own admissions page states that it does not pre-assess candidates, that all applicants are expected to have better than average grades, and that preference goes to candidates with social work-related experience and demonstrated personal suitability for the profession; meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance, and admission follows the Faculty of Arts' general process otherwise governed by McGill's Undergraduate Admissions Guide. English is the language of instruction, and some applicants must demonstrate English proficiency per McGill's general policy (e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 90); students are also expected to be functional in spoken, written and comprehended French for the field-placement components, and are asked to self-rate their French proficiency on the BSW application form.
