Overview

This Computer Science program leads to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science and is available as an Honours Specialization, Specialization, Major, or Minor, on a full-time or part-time basis with intakes in fall, winter, and spring/summer. The curriculum covers programming and software development, data structures and algorithms, cybersecurity and network security, artificial intelligence and machine learning, game development and virtual reality, and cloud computing and big data, delivered through hands-on labs, research projects, and internships in small classes with close faculty support. The program is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit and offers a dual degree option. It suits students with an interest in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, game development, or software engineering. Graduates pursue roles in software development and engineering, cybersecurity and IT systems as analysts or security specialists, artificial intelligence and data science, cloud computing and infrastructure, and gaming and other emerging technologies.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Computer Science programme page states only Nipissing's general undergraduate admission requirement and refers applicants to program-specific prerequisites without publishing them on the page itself; the university's general requirements page confirms the baseline is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six 4U/4M courses (equivalent credentials for out-of-province and international applicants). Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Nipissing's proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 83 overall (minimum 20 in reading, listening and writing, 22 in speaking), PTE Academic 58 overall (minimum 56 per section), CAEL 60 overall with no band below 60, or Cambridge C1 176 overall (minimum 169).

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC): for most undergraduate programs starting September 2027 the application deadline is April 1, 2027 with supporting documents due April 9, 2027, part-time fall applicants have until August 4, 2027, and January 2027 entry closes November 13, 2026 (documents November 20, 2026). International applicants follow the same April 1, 2027 deadline for fall and November 13, 2026 for winter; Nipissing does not publish a spring/summer international deadline. Nipissing states these as fixed application deadlines rather than rolling admission. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
