NSCC's Landscape Technician certificate prepares students to build and maintain residential, commercial and public landscapes. The program covers plant selection and installation, planting-bed and turf maintenance, hardscape construction, irrigation and equipment operation, and industry safety standards, combined with hands-on practice in a horticultural training environment. Students develop a working portfolio of landscape design and installation work alongside practical trade skills. The one-year program requires a minimum 90% attendance in all courses and includes a mandatory field experience placement of approximately five weeks, typically unpaid, with students responsible for their own transportation and accommodation. Graduates are prepared for employment with landscaping, nursery and grounds-maintenance companies or municipal parks departments, and international graduates are eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
