Overview
Aircraft Maintenance Technology - Avionics at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma program that prepares students to repair and maintain electrical and electronic systems on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. Coursework covers servicing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, inspecting, and testing aircraft systems, including electrical power distribution, communication, navigation, data, autopilot, and instrumentation systems. Students learn to assess faults, troubleshoot and replace system components, and create and install wire harnessing for avionics systems, while training in the safe use of hand tools and specialized equipment. Instruction takes place in a hangar setting at NSCC's Aviation Institute at the Ivany Campus, working on small and medium-sized aircraft, helicopters, and components from larger aircraft. The program begins each September and graduates are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, preparing students for careers as avionics maintenance technicians in the aviation industry.

International applicants' diploma equivalency and English language requirements vary by country, and the programme defers to the institution-wide proficiency standard: IELTS Academic minimum 6.0 on each band, TOEFL iBT 80 overall, Duolingo English Test 115 overall with no subscore below 95, CAEL Band 60, CanTest 4.5 average, or PTE Academic 55, or an exemption.
