Overview
Architectural Engineering Technician at Nova Scotia Community College is a two-year diploma program covering building design, construction, and sustainability. Students learn from faculty with architectural design, engineering, and contracting experience, working across the architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects of commercial and residential buildings. Coursework covers preparing architectural and engineering design drawings, cost estimates, material specifications, and technical reports, as well as computer-aided drafting (CAD) and building information modelling (BIM), while considering the environmental impact of building design and construction. A mandatory field experience course of about five weeks gives students practical exposure outside the classroom, and the program is eligible for an optional cooperative education placement of at least 12 weeks and 420 hours between the first and second year. The program is accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada, begins each September, and graduates are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Admission Requirements: Nova Scotia Community College requires a High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent, including Academic Grade 12 Math and Academic Grade 11 Physics, for this programme. International applicants' diploma equivalency and English language requirements vary by country, and the programme defers to the institution-wide proficiency standard: IELTS Academic minimum 6.0 on each band, TOEFL iBT 80 overall, Duolingo English Test 115 overall with no subscore below 95, CAEL Band 60, CanTest 4.5 average, or PTE Academic 55, or an exemption. Applicants who lack the required academic credits can complete them through NSCC's Academic and Career Connections program.
