Behavioural Interventions is a one-year graduate certificate program at Nova Scotia Community College that teaches students to apply behaviour science to support individuals' learning and behaviour goals across the lifespan. The curriculum covers assessing, designing, implementing, modifying and evaluating behavioural interventions for diverse populations in settings such as schools, community agencies and health care. Students build skills in data collection, functional behaviour assessment and person-centred planning, working with clients who have developmental disabilities, mental health needs or other support requirements. The program includes three supervised field placements at agencies across the province, giving students practical experience applying intervention strategies under supervision. A criminal record check and vulnerable sector check are required for these placements. Graduates are prepared for roles such as behaviour interventionist or support worker in education, disability and community service settings. The program uses a blended delivery format and begins in September.
