Overview
The Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate: Litigation is a one-year, full-time program at Okanagan College that prepares students for legal support roles in a litigation practice. It comprises five academic courses covering litigation legal office procedures, introductory and advanced litigation, family law, and employment law, followed by a two-week practicum. The program is offered either as full-time, in-class study at the Kelowna campus or as online study completed on a full-time or part-time basis; only the in-class option qualifies for government student loan funding. It is one of two Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate options at the college, alongside a Corporate/Conveyancing-focused program, and the two may be completed in either order across the fall and winter semesters. Admission requires British Columbia secondary school graduation or equivalent, English 11 at a minimum of 50% or a passing score on the college's Office Administration English entrance test, and a recommended minimum keyboarding speed of 35 net words per minute.
