Overview
The Commercial Aviation Diploma (CAD) is for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in commercial aviation. The program provides you with university-level business competencies as well as Transport Canada commercial aviation licensing requirements. You'll be qualified to be employed as a pilot with charter companies, regional carriers and private corporations, and upon attaining sufficient flying hours, you will also have job opportunities with major airline companies. The Commercial Aviation diploma program consists of two distinct and separate areas of study - aviation and flight training courses, and university-level academic courses.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants only, per the College's program page.
Regular applicants: B.C. secondary-school graduation or the equivalent, English 12 or an accepted alternative, and the mathematics requirement below.
Mathematics: at least 50 per cent in one of Pre-Calculus 11, Foundations of Mathematics 11, Principles of Mathematics 11, Applications of Mathematics 11, Apprenticeship and Workplace Mathematics 11, Apprenticeship Mathematics 11, ABE MATH 011, ABE MATH 080, ABE MATH 084 together with MATH 085, or ABE IALG 011 - or a score of at least 16 out of 25 on the Okanagan College mathematics diagnostic test.
Mature applicants: at least 19 years old and out of full-time secondary study for at least a year. Secondary graduation is waived, but the English and mathematics requirements still apply.
Program requirement: a personal laptop, meeting the specification the program publishes.
Note on flight training: the calendar entry above covers academic entry only. Medical certification, licensing and any flight-training prerequisites are handled separately - contact the department before applying.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants: there is no fixed closing date. For a Fall intake the College starts taking applications at 8:30 a.m. on October's first weekday of the preceding year, and for a Winter intake at 8:30 a.m. on February's first weekday of the preceding year, then keeps accepting them until the seats are gone - so apply early.
