This technical Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Aircraft Piloting Techniques, Airplane Piloting specialization, is delivered jointly with flight school Orizon Aviation at Quebec City's Jean-Lesage International Airport. It runs three years (2,400 hours), including more than 224 flight hours and 60 hours of simulator practice, of which 30 hours are on a Boeing 737 simulator for multi-crew coordination (MCC-JET) training. Coursework leads to a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), instrument (IR) and multi-engine (ME) ratings, a night-flying endorsement, and a floatplane rating, along with multi-crew coordination (MCC) training, written ATPL examinations (INRAT, SARON, SAMRA), and aviation-specific English instruction. Graduates who pass the required theory exams may go on to accumulate the 1,500 flight hours needed for an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATP(A)). The program prepares graduates for roles such as air-taxi, cargo, and medical-evacuation pilot, and floatplane or bush pilot, and can lead to flight-instructor training or university study in air-transport management, business administration, or aerospace and mechanical engineering.
