Trades - Apprenticeship in Gasfitter Class B: Apprenticeship is a trades - apprenticeship in Trades programme taught at Okanagan College in Kelowna, Canada. The programme runs for 10 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 1,493 per total for local students.
This Red Seal apprenticeship provides the Class B in-class technical training for gasfitters, who design, install, test, and maintain gas piping and appliances across natural gas, propane, biogas, and hydrogen applications in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Training is organized into two levels of 10 weeks each, delivered full-time as day classes at the Kelowna Trades Complex, with intake limited to 16 seats per level. Level 1 covers foundational trade science, safety, tools, pipes, valves, fittings, rigging, cutting, soldering and brazing, and drafting and blueprint reading; Level 2 moves into applied work, including installing and lighting gas appliances, hot water heating systems, gasfitting practice, electrical controls used with gas systems, and rural sewage, drainage, and venting systems. To enrol, an apprentice must already be registered with SkilledTradesBC and employed by a company with at least one qualified journeyperson gasfitter supervising their work-based hours. The program is intended for people already working toward a gasfitting apprenticeship who need the classroom technical component of Class B certification, rather than newcomers to the gas trades.
