Overview
This program provides the in-class technical training component of the Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship for tradespeople already registered with SkilledTradesBC and employed by a sponsor with at least one qualified journeyperson. Training is organized into four levels, each eight weeks long, delivered on campus at the Kelowna Trades Complex; intakes are limited to 16 seats and are scheduled at different points across the year for each level. The trade leads toward Red Seal certification on completion of the full apprenticeship. Coursework spans layout and pattern development, shop fabrication work, welding and field installation, blueprint reading and trade mathematics, HVAC systems, food service equipment, and architectural sheet metal work, with the later levels adding supervisory skills and responsibilities.
