The Sustainability program at Ontario Tech University leads to a Bachelor of Arts and Science (Honours) degree spanning Natural Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences and Health Sciences. Over four years, students build a foundation through core courses before choosing elective paths for further specialization, with a "Sustainability Journal" used to track student experience and support annual reviews with faculty advisors. The program concludes with a senior capstone project in which pan-disciplinary teams address real-world sustainability issues. The program is offered both in-class at the North Oshawa campus and in a hybrid online/in-class format at the Downtown Oshawa campus. Graduates are prepared for careers addressing sustainability challenges across disciplines. The median upper-year class size is 21 students, and about 90 per cent of graduates are employed within six months of graduation. The program has a single start date each September and does not offer a co-op or direct-entry management option.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits, including English (ENG4U). It is recommended that Biology (SBI4U) and one of Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) also be taken. Admission is competitive and the specific average required varies from year to year; students are selected based on school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the program. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. The expected cut-off is in the mid-70s.
