Overview
The Aerospace specialization is offered within Ontario Tech University's Mechanical Engineering program, leading to a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or, with an additional year, a Bachelor of Engineering and Management (Honours). Built on principles of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials and control systems, the specialization covers the design and performance of aircraft and spacecraft, developing expertise in aerodynamics, propulsion, structures and flight dynamics. Theoretical learning is combined with applied problem-solving and simulation tools used in the aerospace industry. All engineering students complete a common foundation year before specializing, with capstone, co-op and internship options, including a direct-entry co-op stream applied for through the Ontario Universities Application Centre. Instruction is delivered on-campus at the North Oshawa campus with a September start. Graduates are prepared for careers in aerospace systems design and the aircraft and spacecraft industry.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits including English (ENG4U) with a minimum average of 60 per cent, Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) and Physics (SPH4U). In addition, a combined minimum 70 per cent average in prerequisite math and science courses is required, with no grade below 60 per cent.
