Providence University College offers a Bachelor of Arts in Aviation on its Otterburne, Manitoba campus, delivered in partnership with Harv's Air, a flight school based in Steinbach, Manitoba. The program combines flight training with academic coursework and the college's Christian studies curriculum, integrating spiritual formation alongside technical pilot training. Before classes begin, students complete a mandatory Flight Training Camp to prepare for the PSTAR exam. The curriculum pairs flight labs and ground-school theory, covering areas such as air law, meteorology, navigation, and instrument work, with general education courses in subjects like history, literature, mathematics, and the social sciences, plus a service-based field education practicum. Flight instruction uses a range of aircraft along with in-classroom simulator equipment. Students working toward pilot certification can progress from a Private Pilot Licence through Commercial and, ultimately, the Airline Transport Pilot Licence. A Class 1 Medical exam is a requirement for participation. The program suits students aiming for careers as flight instructors, or as private, commercial, military, medevac, or missionary pilots, within a faith-integrated learning community that combines professional aviation training with a broader liberal-arts and Christian-studies education.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Admission follows Providence's general Otterburne Campus undergraduate requirements: a 70% overall high school average with at least 70% in English, five Grade 12 credits including three university-preparatory (A or S) courses with English among them, 30 total required credits, one reference and a $300 confirmation deposit. Entry into the Aviation major itself further requires a Category 1 aviation medical certificate from an approved aviation medical examiner (a Category 3 medical suffices for the Aviation minor only) and proof of citizenship (at least two of a birth certificate, valid passport, or driver's licence). Before classes begin, admitted students must complete Providence's mandatory pre-semester Flight Camp with Harv's Air, passing the PSTAR exam with a minimum score of 90% and an acceptable flight evaluation; flight kits and ground-school materials are purchased separately. No English-language test score is published on either page for domestic applicants.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Providence University College and Theological Seminary encourages domestic applicants to apply anytime, with no fixed closing date for the Fall or Winter intake; applying by 1 January earns a $150 early-bird bursary, official transcripts are due 15 August, and the $300 tuition deposit remains refundable through 1 July. International applicants already in Canada with a valid study permit must apply by 31 July for Fall/September entry or 15 November for Winter/January entry; Providence recommends that applicants coming from abroad apply at least three months before their start date but does not publish a separate fixed deadline for them. Providence does not use a provincial application service and does not describe its admissions as rolling beyond the domestic pathway. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
