Program details

Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, completed over four years and 49 credits. The degree is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. The first two years share a common engineering foundation covering English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and social science and humanities courses, before specializing in third and fourth year in subjects such as aerodynamics, aircraft design, and propulsion. All students complete a capstone design project worth 1.5 credits, split across the fall and winter terms of the final year. The department maintains laboratories supporting aerodynamics research alongside its teaching and research machine shop. As a military college program, students also complete mandatory physical conditioning courses and a second-language requirement. The program suits students pursuing careers as officers and engineers within the Canadian Armed Forces, particularly in aviation and aerospace roles, and it is delivered on campus in Kingston.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Undergraduate admission is not open enrolment: applicants must join the Canadian Armed Forces, normally through the Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP), applying through the CAF by January 31 of the year of enrolment. Successful candidates enrol as Officer or Naval Cadets, have tuition and essential fees paid by the Department of National Defence, and normally serve at least five years as commissioned officers after graduation.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Royal Military College of Canada has no fixed domestic application deadline: applicants become Officer Cadets through the Canadian Armed Forces at forces.ca, which accepts applications year-round on a rolling basis, though RMC recommends applying as early as September and preferably before January 31, 2027 to be considered in the first round of selections for September 2027 entry. RMC does not publish a general international-student deadline, since its undergraduate seats go to CAF-sponsored Canadian and allied-nation military candidates rather than a conventional international-applicant stream. For the 2027 cycle, admission is effectively rolling through the CAF recruitment process. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
