Program details

Overview

A six-month certificate covering both the mechanics and the human side of running projects. Students work through risk, time and cost management and the practice of estimating, planning, scheduling and resourcing projects, and equally through team dynamics, stakeholder relations, project leadership, change leadership, collaboration and negotiations, the skills that keep a project on track and everyone on board. Completion provides the educational hours required to apply for the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and active PMPs can earn professional development units toward maintaining it. The certificate can be taken as a specialization within the MBA in Executive Management or the Master of Global Management, used to build toward the Graduate Diploma in Project Management and Organizational Leadership, or transferred into several Royal Roads master's programs.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires completion of a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, normally with at least two years of relevant full-time work experience. Flexible admission applies to applicants with at least five years of extensive relevant work experience and some post-secondary education. The programme page defers to Royal Roads University's institution-wide English language requirement for applicants whose first language is not English or who were not educated in English: for third-year-entry and graduate programs, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with a minimum 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with a minimum 24 in writing and 20 in listening, reading and speaking. Applicants also submit official transcripts, a personal statement, a detailed résumé and reference letters.

Application Details

Start Date: February and September
Application Deadline: Royal Roads University sets no single university-wide deadline: domestic and international applicants apply directly to the university through the same process, and every programme page checked shows one identical deadline for both. RRU consistently closes a programme's application exactly three calendar months before that programme's own intake start date — a September 2027 intake typically closes 7 June 2027 — though a few programmes (the Master of Global Management, for example) use a six-month lead instead. Each programme lists its own upcoming intakes, running from 2026 into 2028 depending on the programme, and RRU says it may still accept a late application if space and processing time remain, but it publishes no separate international deadline and no institution-wide equal-consideration or rolling policy. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
