Human Resource Management is a Bachelor of Commerce major at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University. The curriculum covers staffing, training and development, compensation management, labour relations, unions, managing diversity, and workplace health and safety. Students learn to develop procedures for analyzing jobs and identifying applicants best matched to job requirements, and to conduct recruitment, selection, training, and employee motivation processes. The major combines core business coursework with human-resource-specific study, giving students both a general commerce foundation and specialized knowledge of workforce management. Graduates are prepared for roles in human resources departments, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, and organizational training and development. The major suits students interested in supporting an organization's workforce, from hiring through ongoing employee development and workplace policy.
