Overview
This program will prepare you to work under the supervision of a lawyer in a fast-paced legal environment. You will learn about legal principles and ethics while gaining practical, hands-on training to ensure workplace success. The curriculum covers various areas of law, including criminal, immigration, intellectual property, personal injury, real estate, corporate and commercial and family law, as well as litigation, wills and estates. Additionally, it emphasizes the technological skills required in these practice areas.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must first meet the standard Law Clerk (LCK) admission requirements, then show completed postsecondary study: an Ontario university or college degree or equivalent, an Ontario college diploma or equivalent, or at least two years of successfully completed postsecondary credits; high-school applicants or those without prior postsecondary study are directed instead to the standard Law Clerk (LCK) program. Applicants with credentials from outside Canada must submit a course-by-course credential assessment from a recognised agency such as WES or ICAS and demonstrate postsecondary English proficiency. Good keyboarding skills are described as essential to success in the program. Neither the accelerated program's page nor its admission-requirements page publishes a required IELTS, TOEFL or other language-test score, a minimum grade average, or Grade 11/12 subject prerequisites; per Seneca's institution-wide policy a formal English test is asked of domestic applicants only when prior study in English cannot otherwise be shown.
