Overview
The Honours Bachelor of Information Sciences (Cyber Security) is a four-year honours baccalaureate degree offered at Sheridan College's Davis Campus in Brampton and Trafalgar Campus in Oakville. Formerly known as the Bachelor of Applied Information Sciences (Information Systems Security), the degree was renamed in 2022 to reflect its focus on cyber security alongside foundational computer science. The curriculum moves from core computer science principles into specialized courses covering computer security, intrusion detection and prevention, network security, ethical hacking and database security. Classes are delivered in a mobile-computing format, with students working on laptops and accessing course materials and collaboration tools from any location. The program includes an internship of up to 28 weeks between years three and four, giving students workplace experience and professional contacts in the cyber security field before graduation. Transfer students may be eligible to enter directly into year two or three depending on prior study. Originally launched in 2004, the degree is one of Canada's longest-running undergraduate cyber security programs and has previously received national recognition for program quality. Admission Requirements: Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent including Grade 12 English (ENG4U), any Grade 12 (U or M) science credit or Grade 12 Computer Science (U) or Computer Engineering Technology (U or M), any Grade 12 (U) Mathematics, plus three further Grade 12 U or M credits, all at a minimum 65% overall average; two semesters of postsecondary study covering the same courses at 65% overall is accepted instead, and applicants are ranked on the average of their six highest senior-level credits. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Sheridan's institution-wide English Proficiency Requirement for degree programs: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 21), PTE 60 (no section below 57), or Duolingo 115 (no subscore below 95); the programme page names Duolingo, IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT for its English for Academic Purposes placement. A Sheridan Degree Entrance Scholarship requiring a minimum 80% admission GPA is available to eligible Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the application opened 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and offers can go out from 1 November 2026, with portfolio- and audition-based programmes deciding later in March; accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027. Winter and Spring/Summer 2027 entry use the same portal but Sheridan publishes no fixed equal-consideration date for them and reviews those on an ongoing basis. International applicants apply directly through Sheridan's own International Application Portal, not ontariocolleges.ca; the college publishes no fixed international deadline and admits on a rolling, space-permitting basis, so early application is advised for the 2027 entry cycle.
