Overview

Cyber Science is an Honours Bachelor of Science at Toronto Metropolitan University addressing cybersecurity threats to organizations, governments and individuals by connecting technical skills with business, law, ethics, policy and human behaviour. Students learn to write secure code, identify system vulnerabilities and apply cryptography, alongside coursework examining the organizational and societal dimensions of cybersecurity. The program is offered as a 4-year full-time degree, with a 5-year co-op option that adds paid work terms in the cybersecurity field. Admission requires Grade 12 U courses in English, Advanced Functions, and either Calculus and Vectors or Mathematics of Data Management. Graduates are prepared for roles such as security analyst, penetration tester and cybersecurity consultant across sectors including finance, government and technology, as well as further graduate study in cybersecurity or computer science.

Admission Requirements: Ontario applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with 6 Grade 12 U or M courses, including English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), and one of Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U, preferred) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U), each at a minimum of 70%, with an overall average of at least 70% required for consideration. The competitive average needed for admission fluctuates each year with application volume and available spaces. The university's reduced English proficiency tier applies to this Science program for international applicants: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no minimum band requirement, TOEFL iBT 83, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 60.
