BA/BS in Dialogue

The Dialogue programme is a minor offered through the School of Communication within Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology. It provides a concentration of courses focused on the conceptual framework, technique, and practice of creating, sustaining, and evaluating dialogue. Coursework examines dialogue's relationship to public issues and explores its various manifestations, including cooperation, controversy, and confrontation, situating these forms within broader communication theory and practice. The minor is completed as part of a Bachelor of Arts degree and is typically paired with another minor or an extended minor in a related department, most often within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology. Students engage with dialogic communication in public, community, and organizational contexts, developing analytical and practical skills applicable to group facilitation, conflict engagement, and public deliberation.
