BA/BS in Global Health

Global Health is one of eight thematic focus areas within Simon Fraser University's Health Sciences major, offered as a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts through the Faculty of Health Sciences. Students in the Health Sciences program build skills in the cellular, molecular, and behavioural mechanisms underlying chronic and infectious disease and population health, then apply that foundation to global health questions such as cross-border disease transmission, health system disparities between countries, and the social and economic drivers of health outcomes worldwide. The major itself, rather than the Global Health theme alone, carries SFU's formal admission and degree requirements; students select Global Health as an area of emphasis within their broader Health Sciences coursework rather than declaring it as a separate credential. The program is based at SFU's Surrey campus and prepares students for further study or work in public health, international health organizations, epidemiology, and health policy.
