Economics: Master of Arts (MA)

Admission Requirements: The usual prerequisite is a bachelor's degree in economics from a recognized institution, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required for admission; a master's degree in another discipline may also be considered. Applicants who lack the standard undergraduate economics background must complete an Additional Coursework Form detailing the most advanced core courses they have taken in macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, and applied economics. Non-native English speakers who did not study where English is the language of instruction must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores; the department's own page does not print a threshold and directs applicants to the Dean of Graduate Studies, whose published standard is an IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.5 with no section below 6.0, or a TOEFL iBT score of 4.5 overall with 4.0 minimum per section (90 overall/20 per section for tests before January 21, 2026). The MA begins in September (fall term) only; spring admission is not offered.
