Overview

Program Overview This program focuses on advanced computer network administration including network security. Computer systems technologists also have project management, systems analysis and design skills. This program will appeal to students with a keen interest in highly complex network systems. Students must have good communication and analytical skills, enjoy problem-solving, and be well organized. Program Highlights St. Clair is an official Cisco Networking Academy and prepares students to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Implementing Cisco Wireless Network Fundamentals (WIFUND), MCSA Administering Windows Server, CompTIA A+ and Security+ certifications (Comp TIA A+ allows for personal computer repair, maintenance and installation). Cisco networking lab. Active student-run Information Technology Club. Students work on a “real world” project team designing and presenting a network proposal for an industry partner. Students perform extremely well at Skills Competitions: Skills Ontario - IT Network Systems Administration (2023) - Gold medal Skills Ontario - IT Network Systems Administration (2018) - Gold medal also receiving an award for having the highest score in a technology competition. Skills Ontario - IT Network Systems Administration (2018) - Silver medal Skills Ontario - IT Network Systems Administration (2017) - Bronze medal Career Opportunities Graduates will have good advancement potential and opportunities for entry-level positions including Technical Support Analyst, Network/System Administrator, and Computer Network Technologist in a wide range of sectors including government, corporations and the public sector. Many graduates become self-employed or independent operators offering computer training, technical support and network administration.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with the majority of credits at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level, plus Grade 12 Mathematics at the C or U level. Mature applicants without an OSSD may qualify through St. Clair College's mature-student route on the general admission-procedures page. This programme (code T861) admits in September; domestic applicants apply through Ontario Colleges and international applicants through International OCAS. The programme page does not publish its own English-proficiency scores; St. Clair's institution-wide standard for diploma and certificate programmes applies to international applicants: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 60 overall, PTE Academic 52, CAEL 60, or Duolingo English Test 110.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the online application opened on 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, colleges may start sending offers from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers are due by 1 May 2027; Winter 2027 entry has an equal-consideration date of 15 September 2026. St. Clair flags eight oversubscribed programmes and thirteen high-interest programmes for which it recommends applying by 1 February. After the equal-consideration dates, applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats remain. International applicants apply through the International OCAS portal and are admitted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis; St. Clair publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
