Overview
This is a conservatory-style training program that prepares emerging talents for careers in the entertainment industry. The curriculum focuses on those three areas that comprise the “triple threat” performer; acting, singing, and dancing. Students train with professional instructors active in their field. Acting is of primary importance with a wider variety of styles and methodologies taught to prepare individuals for stage and film. Vocal music work includes technique, interpretation and solo work supported by one on one tutorials. A rigorous dance curriculum includes styles with a specific music theatre focus. Musicianship will be stressed through key-board instruction, sight singing instruction, choral work, and elementary composition.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry requires an OSSD with the majority of credits at College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level; one Grade 11 or 12 course in Dance, Dramatic Arts or Music is recommended. Mature applicants without an OSSD may write the College's admission tests. All applicants must complete a performance audition (in Windsor, Toronto or virtually) consisting of a fully memorized one-to-two-minute contemporary monologue, two contrasting musical-theatre songs (one ballad, one up-tempo), and a dance piece no longer than sixteen bars, submitted with a resume and headshot; a phone interview covering musical literacy, performance background and career objectives follows audition review. The programme page sets no language score of its own, so the institution-wide diploma-level English requirement applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 60, PTE Academic 52, CAEL 60, CELPIP General 7.0 in each module, or Duolingo 110. Auditions are reviewed starting in December until the programme fills.
