Program details

Overview

This program awards a Master of Arts in Theology & Culture through a 45-credit curriculum completed over two years of full-time study, with part-time options also available. It approaches theology through what the program calls an ancient-future paradigm, addressing contemporary cultural issues through coursework in church history and theology, biblical studies, Christian counselling and spiritual formation, and philosophy and culture. The degree is delivered through online courses, a short seven-day collegium, and a two-week study-abroad trip, followed by an online research methods course and a guided thesis, structured across three eleven-credit semesters, a six-credit study-abroad component, and a thesis sequence worth six credits combined. Students may pursue an optional specialization track in Peace Studies, Reconciliation Studies, Classical Studies, Biblical Studies, or Leadership. The program is designed for small, interactive cohorts in which students and faculty engage real-life questions together, and it prepares graduates for further study or professional development in ministry, academic, or related settings.

Applicants whose first language is not English must present a paper-based TOEFL score of 550, an internet-based TOEFL (iBT) score of 86, or an IELTS score of 6.5; equivalent alternative tests may be considered. Mature applicants aged 30 or over with five years of relevant experience may be admitted without meeting the standard academic threshold, provided they achieve at least an A- average in a preliminary year after acceptance.
