Overview
The Master of Nutrition and Dietetics in UBC's Faculty of Land and Food Systems is the graduate professional route into the dietetics profession in Canada, built around the national competencies and accreditation standards for entry to practice. The program runs for 28 months and totals 87.5 credits, with practice education placements woven throughout and located at sites across British Columbia. Coursework covers advanced clinical nutrition, food provision management, counselling, leadership, business and entrepreneurship, Indigenous Peoples' health, social justice, and professional dietetic practice. Applicants need a bachelor's degree in any discipline plus a set of prerequisite courses. Those who complete both the academic and the practice education components become eligible to sit the national examination to register as dietitians in British Columbia. Delivery is in person at the Vancouver campus.

Admission Requirements: Admission is handled by UBC's Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Applicants need a minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) on a Bachelor's degree in any field, plus five prerequisite courses each passed at a minimum 72% (B): two-term human physiology, one term of introductory biochemistry, one term of statistics, one term of introductory nutrition and one term of introductory food science; the GRE is not required. The English Language Proficiency requirement applies to anyone whose prior degree was not English-medium, tested within 24 months: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall on the 6-point scale, or Duolingo 125 overall. Applicants submit transcripts, three letters of reference, a statement of interest and a self-report form declaring prerequisite equivalencies; permanent residents must supply a copy of their PR card.

Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027.
