Admission Requirements: UBC's own admission page for this degree gives the science-specific academic prerequisites and defers to the university's general English Language Admission Standard for language scores. For the International Baccalaureate route the program requires IB Math Analysis and Approaches at Standard or Higher Level, or IB Math Applications and Interpretations at Higher Level (Applications and Interpretations SL, and Math Studies, do not satisfy this requirement); one of IB Biology, IB Chemistry, or IB Physics; plus Grade 11 or equivalent Chemistry and Grade 11 or equivalent Physics, both of which may be waived with grades of 5 in IB Chemistry and in the IB Mathematics course. A completed IB Diploma with at least three Higher Level courses is required for IB Diploma applicants. English is the language of instruction at UBC and every applicant must demonstrate English-language competency; UBC's institution-wide standard, which this page points to, accepts IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 90 overall with Reading 22, Listening 22, Writing 21 and Speaking 21, among other accepted tests.
