The Education Assistant Certificate prepares students to support K-12 learners with disabilities and diverse learning needs in inclusive classroom settings, combining coursework with supervised practical experience in schools. The certificate is offered in two formats: a full-time, in-person option that can typically be completed in one year, and an online option that can typically be completed in one to two years for students already working as education assistants. Coursework addresses inclusive-education practice and the needs of learners with diverse abilities, blending classroom study with hands-on placements. Students who go on to Trinity Western University's Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education program can apply one completed certificate course, equivalent to three general education credits, toward that degree. The certificate is delivered by TWU's School of Education and is positioned as a pathway both into direct employment as an education assistant and into further teacher-education study.
