Program details

Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Education for students who already hold an undergraduate degree, providing the pedagogical, personal, didactic, and professional training needed to teach in New Brunswick's public schools. Coursework covers the foundations of education alongside teaching methods in the applicant's own subject areas, combining theory with supervised practicum placements in schools. Students typically complete their first part of the program at the Edmundston or Shippagan campus before finishing the remaining coursework at the Moncton campus. The program totals 60 credits and is intended for career-changers or graduates seeking teacher certification rather than a first undergraduate credential, drawing on the subject knowledge from their prior degree. It prepares graduates to teach in the subject areas recognized in their admission file within New Brunswick's public school system, leading toward provincial teacher certification.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 2.30 / 4.3
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma with at least 30 credits in a first teaching subject and at least 18 credits in a second teaching subject recognized in New Brunswick's public schools, plus a minimum cumulative average of 2.30 in that degree and in each of the two subjects. Applicants whose undergraduate degree was not completed at a French-language university must also hold French proficiency at level B2 or the DELF (Diplome d'etudes en langue francaise).
