Overview
The Doctorate in Education (Ph.D.) trains specialists working in school, college, and university settings for research, development, and innovation in education, with education in francophone minority settings as its integrating theme. Delivered in French at Universite de Moncton's Moncton campus, the program has a minimum duration of three years and a maximum of seven, with students required to be enrolled full-time for at least four sessions. The 98-credit program is built around 95 mandatory credits, including research methods coursework, a course on education and minorities, comprehensive examinations, and an 80-credit doctoral thesis, plus 3 elective credits. The doctorate prepares graduates for research, teaching, and leadership roles across francophone educational institutions, and for careers advancing scholarship on minority-language education. Admission includes an interview with the Graduate Studies Committee to assess the candidate's doctoral project and preparation for independent research.
