Program details

Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology, delivered over four years through in-person lectures, problem-based learning, and laboratory and field work. Students combine a biology major with a minor in a second discipline, alongside supporting coursework in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and statistics, plus general education requirements. Core biology courses include introductory biology, botany, cell biology, genetics, general ecology, microbiology, and evolution, providing both theoretical grounding and hands-on laboratory experience. The first two years can be completed at the Edmundston or Shippagan campus, with the final two years at Moncton, or the full four years can be taken at the Moncton campus. The program suits students seeking a broad, multidisciplinary science background that combines biology expertise with knowledge from a complementary field, preparing them for direct entry into the workforce or for further studies in biology or related sciences.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires five secondary-level courses: French (Fran 12 / Francais 10411 or equivalent), Mathematics (Math 30411C pre-calculus or equivalent), one terminal science course (Biology 53411 or 53421, Chemistry 52411, or Physics 51411 or 51421), plus two other eligible courses. Minimum grade of 65% is required in FRAN 10411 and 60% in each of the other four admission courses, with an overall average of at least 70% across all five. Application Details

Application Deadline: Canadian and permanent-resident applicants apply directly to Université de Moncton by recurring annual deadlines that carry no published calendar year: 31 August for autumn-term entry and 5 January for winter-term entry, with the Baccalauréat en science infirmière (Nursing) and Baccalauréat en design intérieur due 1 February, and the 16-month Baccalauréat en éducation due 1 February at the Moncton campus or 30 June at Shippagan/Edmundston. International applicants must apply by 31 May for autumn entry and 30 September for winter entry, with the 16-month Baccalauréat en éducation due 1 February at Moncton or 31 May at Shippagan/Edmundston. Applications received after these dates are automatically deferred to the following session, and Université de Moncton may close applications earlier if volume is high, so admission is firm rather than rolling. The admissions page's only calendar-year reference is to the Automne 2026 term already under way (registration closes 4 September 2026, classes begin 9 September 2026), which places the source's current context in the 2026-27 academic year; the next occurrences of the recurring deadlines above therefore fall in Hiver 2027 and Automne 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
