Master of Science (Biology)

The Master of Science in Biology (M. Sc.) is a two-year, 45-credit thesis-based graduate degree offered by Universite de Moncton at its Moncton campus. The program provides in-depth training in a specific area of the biological sciences through a 33-credit thesis based on original experimental research, supported by a research seminar and a directed-reading seminar, plus six credits of electives drawn from fields such as biochemistry, ecology, biotechnology, animal physiology or experimental design. Applicants must have a research supervisor confirmed before beginning the program and include that supervisor's letter of support with their application. Graduates are prepared to design and conduct independent biological research and pursue doctoral studies or roles managing research projects in their area of specialization. The thesis project is developed in consultation with the supervisor from the outset and is assessed by the graduate studies committee at the proposal stage.
