Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Science with a major in mathematics, delivered over four years primarily through lecture-based instruction supplemented by exercises and assignments. The core mathematics curriculum covers calculus, sequences and series, vector calculus, mathematical foundations, matrix and linear algebra, probability theory, and real analysis, with additional upper-level mathematics electives. Related coursework includes symbolic and numerical computation, programming, introductory probability and statistics, and data analysis, alongside a general education component spanning French, English, and other competency areas. The first two years can be taken at the Edmundston campus, the first year at Shippagan, or the full program at Moncton, with students who start elsewhere completing their later years at Moncton. The program aims to develop versatile problem-solving skills and a foundation in statistics. It suits students who want a broad mathematics background for direct entry into employment or for continuing into graduate studies.

Minimum grade of 65% is required in FRAN 10411 and 60% in each of the other four admission courses, with an overall average of at least 70% across all five. Applicants submit an official secondary school transcript (plus college or university transcript if applicable) with a $60 application fee. The program also requires a minimum of 6 credits in French plus the course ANGL1022.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Canadian and permanent-resident applicants apply directly to Université de Moncton by recurring annual deadlines that carry no published calendar year: 31 August for autumn-term entry and 5 January for winter-term entry, with the Baccalauréat en science infirmière (Nursing) and Baccalauréat en design intérieur due 1 February, and the 16-month Baccalauréat en éducation due 1 February at the Moncton campus or 30 June at Shippagan/Edmundston. International applicants must apply by 31 May for autumn entry and 30 September for winter entry, with the 16-month Baccalauréat en éducation due 1 February at Moncton or 31 May at Shippagan/Edmundston. Applications received after these dates are automatically deferred to the following session, and Université de Moncton may close applications earlier if volume is high, so admission is firm rather than rolling. The admissions page's only calendar-year reference is to the Automne 2026 term already under way (registration closes 4 September 2026, classes begin 9 September 2026), which places the source's current context in the 2026-27 academic year; the next occurrences of the recurring deadlines above therefore fall in Hiver 2027 and Automne 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
