The Doctorat interdisciplinaire en amenagement is a 90-credit, thesis-based Ph.D. offered by the Faculte de l'amenagement at Universite de Montreal, combining architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, interior design and urban planning within a single interdisciplinary research program. Students examine the social, cultural and physical dimensions of the built environment and living spaces, drawing on methods and theory from across the planning disciplines rather than a single specialization. The program is offered full-time or part-time, with intakes admitting students in the Fall and Winter terms. Admission requires a master's degree or equivalent in a related field. Applicants submit a letter of intent, a research project outline of roughly eight to ten pages covering the research problem, methodology and bibliography, a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and a sample of prior work such as a master's thesis or published article. French-language proficiency equivalent to a B2 average in listening and reading comprehension is required for applicants schooled in another language.
