Overview

This Diplôme d'études supérieures spécialisées (DESS) in environment and sustainable development integrates natural, social, and human sciences and offers five specialization options: environmental biogeochemistry, social issues and governance, water management, biodiversity management, and planning perspectives. Graduates work in government, non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, and research institutions addressing environmental challenges. Courses are offered full-time and part-time. Full-time study takes a minimum of two trimesters, with up to twelve trimesters (four years) allowed from initial enrollment. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and, under a new French-language admission requirement, provide test results demonstrating a C1 average in oral and written comprehension and B2 in written expression unless entirely educated in French. The application requires a curriculum vitae and a letter of motivation naming the chosen specialization option.
