PGDip in DESS en intervention en déficience visuelle - Orientation et mobilité

This postgraduate diploma trains specialists in orientation-and-mobility intervention for people with visual impairments. The 30-credit programme is delivered full-time, with daytime courses at the Montreal campus and mandatory internships in the field. Full-time completion takes a minimum of two trimesters, with up to four years allowed for candidates who move to part-time or half-time status. Coursework combines theoretical grounding in vision rehabilitation with supervised placements, in which candidates learn to assess mobility needs and teach orientation and travel techniques to people with visual impairments. Because some placements occur in settings with specific legal requirements, a background check and up-to-date vaccinations may be required. Graduates are prepared for orientation-and-mobility specialist roles in rehabilitation centres and vision-support organizations. Admissions to this option are currently suspended, and the university directs prospective applicants to its related Master's programme in vision sciences.
