This Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) supports artistic development in digital and electronic music creation, where sonic and musical processes, languages and expression are inseparable from electronic, informatic and technological tools. Over 30 credits, students pursue a theoretical or theory/practice research-creation project in areas such as electroacoustic composition, sound design, performance, media arts, visual music, sound installation, or software art. Full-time study requires a minimum of nine credits per fall/winter term and six per summer, completed in a minimum of one year full-time or up to four years part-time.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent and submit a curriculum vitae, a portfolio of two to five representative works, a one- to two-page letter of intention or motivation, a research-creation project outline of up to 1,000 words, a sample of previous academic writing, and an academic transcript. Admission is conditional on a supervising professor agreeing to direct the student's work.
