This 30-credit Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) trains composers to create original film scores suited to the tone and structure of moving-image content. Full-time students complete the program in three trimesters; part-time study runs four to seven trimesters. Admission is offered for the fall trimester only, with courses given during the day and evening at Universite du Quebec a Montreal's Montreal campus. Applicants are admitted based on academic record, professional experience, a supplementary composition portfolio, and an interview. The program is intended for musicians and composers seeking to specialize in scoring for screen media, building on existing musical training or professional composition experience.
