This Bachelor of Arts, Interdisciplinary Arts (Baccalaureat interdisciplinaire en arts) at Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi is a 90-credit program delivered on campus with admission in the fall and winter terms. Described as a distinctive Quebec program, it combines a solid grounding in one chosen artistic discipline with structured exposure to creation across multiple disciplines, reflecting the view that a contemporary artist cannot be defined by a single field alone. Students choose one of four concentrations: digital arts, visual arts, film and video, or theatre, and build a specialized base while engaging with interdisciplinary creative practice throughout the curriculum. The program suits students seeking a broad, practice-based arts education that develops both a primary creative specialization and the flexibility to work across artistic forms, preparing graduates for creative practice or further study in the arts.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Arts follows three routes. Candidates holding a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in a related arts field, such as Arts plastiques, Arts visuels et numeriques, or Communication, are admitted on that basis. Candidates educated outside Quebec need the equivalent of at least 13 years of schooling with a minimum average of 12/20. Candidates on a university-studies base must have completed the equivalent of one year of university study (30 credits) in an artistic discipline or related field and submit a portfolio. Candidates whose mother tongue is not French must provide proof of French proficiency as part of their application.
