Cégep de Jonquière is a public French-language college in the Jonquière borough of Saguenay, Québec, formed in 1967 when the Collège classique de Jonquière and the École technique d'Arvida merged under Québec's new CEGEP system, becoming one of the first twelve colleges created under Bill 60.
Its inaugural class of eighteen students enrolled in what has since grown into the college's flagship Art and Technology of Media program, still offered nowhere else in the province. Today the college enrolls roughly 3,200 students and employs more than 500 staff, including some 350 teachers, across 26 programs of study: six pre-university DEC options, twenty technical DEC programs, and a Tremplin DEC bridging path, alongside continuing-education attestations (AEC).
Its École supérieure en art et technologie des médias groups Multimedia Integration, Communication in Media, and Television Production and Post-Production into one specialized school built on the college's original 1967 mandate. Applied research runs through ÉCOBES, the province's largest applied social-science research centre, alongside the Centre linguistique for French immersion (founded 1969), the Centre NAD for 3D animation (founded 1992), and an industrial research chair in renewable-energy technologies created in 2012.
A CAD 28-million provincial investment in 2006 expanded its media-technology facilities.
Situated in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, it is the most attended college-level institution outside Québec's major urban centres.
