— it helps other students.
This 30-credit undergraduate certificate develops literary creation skills through a combination of practical writing workshops and theoretical study. Courses are taught by established writers who guide students through the creative process while introducing the expectations of publishers, media, and other cultural institutions. Students work on developing the expressive resources of language through recognized techniques and strategies for cultivating creative writing, rather than relying on inspiration alone. The programme is delivered in person and admits students for the Fall and Winter terms. It suits students pursuing creative writing as a primary interest as well as those adding literary skills to complement other studies. Graduates gain practical experience producing literary work and an understanding of the professional literary and publishing landscape, supporting further study or entry into writing, editing, or related creative fields.
