Overview
This Bachelor's degree in video game development at Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi is a 90-credit, on-campus program with admission in fall and winter terms. The program trains versatile computer science professionals for the video game industry, covering all stages of game creation along with software design, development, and maintenance, graphics programming, artificial intelligence, computer networks, security, and web development, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary teamwork. Students choose one of three concentrations: advanced programming with engines and multiplayer networks; 3D modelling tools and graphics rendering; or game systems and economy design. The 90-credit structure comprises 19 core courses, 15 credits from the chosen concentration, 15 credits of electives, and one language course. Admission requires a DEC in a science-related profile with a minimum R-score of 25, or a diploma from outside Quebec with a minimum average of 13 on 20, or at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of at least 2.6 on 4.3, or at least two years of relevant full-time IT experience. All applicants must complete calculus and linear algebra courses before entry.

Admission Requirements: Admission follows UQAC's base system, with intake each fall and winter. Quebec DEC holders qualify with a DEC in Natural Sciences, in Science/Computer Science/Mathematics, or in Science/Letters/Arts, or any DEC satisfying the program's mathematics prerequisites, and a minimum R-score of 25 (applicants scoring 23-25 may be considered if their average exceeds the group average in 75% of relevant subjects). Applicants from outside Quebec qualify with a diploma demonstrating basic science knowledge obtained after at least 13 years of schooling and a minimum average of 13 on 20 (11-13/20 may apply for review). University-route applicants need at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of at least 2.6 on 4.3. Applicants may also qualify under the sufficient-preparation base with at least two years of full-time relevant IT experience, documented by an employer. All applicants must complete Calculus I and II and Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry before entry.
