Overview

This 30-credit Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) deepens professional competencies in dance, somatic education, and movement practice. Coursework combines theoretical and applied content on lived-body experience and movement analysis with practice across multiple somatic approaches, and culminates in an individual applied-research project connecting theory to the candidate's own practice. The program is offered part-time only, with a maximum completion window of 10 trimesters, and courses are scheduled during the day and in the evening. Admission is offered in the fall and winter terms. The program targets holders of a bachelor's degree in dance or a related field such as physical activity, theatre, or body therapy, and also admits candidates without a bachelor's degree who have relevant experience in dance or somatic education, within a cap on such admissions. It suits movement and dance professionals seeking to broaden their intervention contexts and integrate conceptual and practical knowledge of somatic education into an established practice.
