The Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder (Certificat en trouble du spectre de l'autisme) is a 30-credit, first-cycle program that equips participants with essential knowledge of pervasive developmental disorders to support effective intervention with autistic individuals and their families. The program targets professionals and caregivers who interact with autistic people, including natural caregivers, support workers, teachers, and employers. Admission is cohort-based, with typically one course completed per trimester in an intensive part-time format. Depending on the cohort, the program is delivered fully online, in person, or in a hybrid format. The certificate is offered across several locations, including Baie-des-Chaleurs, Gaspe, Iles-de-la-Madeleine, and the Levis and Rimouski campuses, at Universite du Quebec a Rimouski.

Admission Requirements: Applicants may qualify through one of three bases. Under the collegial base, applicants must hold a Diplome d'etudes collegiales (DEC) or equivalent; places under this base are ranked by collegial performance rating (cote R). Under the university base, applicants must have completed a minimum of 15 university credits at the time of application; places are ranked by GPA and program relevance. Under the experience base, applicants need at least one year (1,200 hours) of relevant experience as a caregiver or in a related field, and must submit a curriculum vitae and motivation letter, pass the UQAR French test, and complete an interview. All applicants must demonstrate competency in French; those unable to do so must pass an institutional French examination. This program is not open to international students.
