This certificate introduces students to the foundations of psychology without training practitioners. Over 30 credits on the Trois-Rivieres campus, offered full-time or part-time, coursework covers human development, personality dynamics and psychopathology, and a critical examination of competing psychological theories and therapies, through eight required courses plus electives chosen from nine optional courses. It serves either as a standalone introduction to psychology for adults questioning the determinants of human behaviour or as a pathway into bachelor's-level psychology study. Admission follows a Quebec college diploma (DEC) in a pre-university or technical programme or equivalent, thirteen years of pre-university education (or twelve years plus one year of university study) for applicants from outside Quebec, or a minimum age of twenty-one with relevant knowledge and experience for the experience-based route, which requires a curriculum vitae. A personal laptop computer is mandatory for all admitted students. Admission is offered in the fall, winter and summer terms, and the programme is open to international applicants, who must study full-time to meet immigration requirements.
