This 30-credit certificate at Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres develops advanced, autonomous clinical nursing practice for registered nurses working with hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients experiencing acute or chronic health problems. Coursework covers pharmacology applied to nursing, systematic clinical evaluation, quality-of-care management principles, and the discipline and profession of nursing, together with elective courses drawn from areas such as ethics, epidemiology and biostatistics, community health nutrition, and nursing practice with predominant illnesses. The program builds skills in physical examination and clinical monitoring, partnership-based care with patients and families, critical and scientific reasoning applied to nursing situations, and leadership in developing autonomous nursing practice. It prepares nurses for specialized clinical sectors including remote care, emergency services, and intensive care. The certificate is offered full-time or part-time, based at the Trois-Rivieres campus, with admission each fall, winter, and summer term.
