This 30-credit undergraduate certificate at UQAT lets a registered nurse consolidate the knowledge and competencies needed for autonomous, innovative practice in first-line and public community nursing, covering health promotion, prevention and needs assessment for individuals, families and groups, community-intervention strategies, health education and interdisciplinary teamwork. Admission requires a Quebec college diploma (DEC) in nursing or equivalent; applicants must be authorized to practise nursing in Quebec and provide proof of this at the time of application. The curriculum includes professional health communication, grief and palliative/end-of-life care, foundations of nursing science, clinical nursing examination (parts I and II), wound-care nursing practice, community health education intervention, an integration internship in community and public-health nursing services, and interventions with families. Students must hold an unrestricted practice permit and be listed on the roll of the Ordre des infirmieres et infirmiers du Quebec (OIIQ) throughout the sessions in which they take the integration-internship and family-intervention courses.
