Offered by Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, Canada, Return to Registered Nurse Practice Certificate is a certificate in Nursing programme. The programme is delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 216 per credit for local students.
Combining theoretical, laboratory and practice-based courses, this certificate reacquaints participants with the knowledge, values and skills needed for nursing practice decisions. It is intended as education and support for registered nurses who have been away from professional practice and want to return, with lab and practicum components used to expand skills and apply classroom learning.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This certificate has two admission routes. Canadian-registered nurses need verification of current annual RN licensure in Canada, or a BCCNM letter of assessment confirming eligibility for registration, plus official post-secondary transcripts, documented evidence of RN practice/employment history, and a completed Requisite Skills and Abilities form. Internationally educated nurses need a BCCNM letter of assessment, a Nursing Community Assessment Service (NCAS) summary showing 30% or more 'emergent' overall with safety, assessment and therapeutic-communication competencies at the emergent level, evidence of at least two years (3,200 hours) of full-time paid RN work in long-term care or medical-surgical settings before coming to Canada, evidence of at least 1,600 hours of current employment as an LPN or HCA in the Canadian healthcare system, a resume, and the same Requisite Skills form. All applicants complete an assessment interview with the Program and Course Lead; on acceptance, a criminal record check, current immunization records, a WHMIS certificate and CPR Level C/HCP certification are required. No standardized English test score is published for this program.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to TRU: for the September (Fall) intake the deadline is 1 May, for January (Winter) it is 1 September, and for the May (Summer) intake it is 1 January; applications for most programs open 1 October, and a deadline falling on a weekend or statutory holiday moves to the next working day. International applicants follow the same intake structure with deadlines of 1 May (September), 1 October (January) and 1 February (May); TRU still reviews later applications where space remains, though high-volume programs can close early, so admission runs on a rolling basis around these published cut-offs for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
