Clinical Nursing Certificate

This 30-credit undergraduate certificate at UQAT lets registered nurses build new professional knowledge, attitudes and clinical skills for complex situations involving individuals and families in remote regions, with a focus on emergency and cardiology care in institutional and community settings. Admission requires a Quebec college diploma (DEC) in nursing or equivalent; applicants must be authorized to practise nursing in Quebec and provide proof of this at the time of application, and DEC-in-nursing holders are granted three optional credits by prior-learning recognition. The four-session curriculum covers the phenomenon of pain, clinical nursing examination (parts I and II), pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy I, foundations of nursing science, emergency care I, professional health communication and cardiology I, plus three elective credits. Graduates must register proof of their right to practise with the Ordre des infirmieres et infirmiers du Quebec. All courses are available through UQAT's online learning environment, with some also offered in-class depending on campus.
